about

was recorded live at the Planetarium Bochum November 2006

In April 2006 Sylvia Sommerfeld, from the EM Circle Schallwende called me and asked if I am interested in playing live at the Planetarium Bochum.
I felt very honoured, because I got to know this location when I did the recordings for the EL-KA live CDR ”EL-KA Live”. A lot of EM Stars allready played there such as
Gandalf, der Spyra etc. So I gave my ok to play there in November 2006. The projection of stars and the specific acoustic make a live event very special.
I had to compose completely new music for that event, because I wanted to sync my music to the projected pictures.
I decided to use Ableton Live for that. In combination with the Mackie Control I could fade in, fx sounds, elements, sequences and mix it in realtime to the projection.
I used a lot of choir and vox samples to give it a soundtrack touch. The concert was a big success. The house was fully booked and the projections were absolutely brilliant.
I wanted a lot of technical projections with distance marks and data on it. It was the perfect visual add, for my astronomical unit theme.
My best friend Josef Steinbüchel, a sound-designer, recorded the complete concert on my multitrack Zaxcom Deva IV, that I use at my work as a location soundrecordist.
So I only had to master it a little bit, without loosing the character of the live concert. Thats why there are some blue notes in it, but that’s live.
Lambert Ringlage from Spheric Music was quite interested in producing the CD.
I hope you enjoy this CD as much as I enjoyed it to make it.

Sit down, relax and close your eyes, try to feel the deep space of our universe

The astronomical unit (AU or au or a.u. or sometimes ua) is a unit of length approximately equal to the distance from the Earth to the Sun.The currently accepted value of the AU is 149 597 870 691 ± 30 metres
(about 150 million kilometres or 93 million miles). The symbol ua is recommended by the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures but in the United States and other anglophone countries the reverse - au - is more common
